day three hundred and sixty five.

Looking for that damn lake.

Hangzhou’s main attraction is its massive lake – The West Lake. It’s renowned for its beauty and was one of the main reasons I got super excited about coming to this city. Clearly incapable of deciphering maps and the concept of scaling, I imagined the lake was right outside my dormitory door and that I would go for a jog around it every evening. Yestermorn (as the weather had cleared up finally) I went in search of this lake and proved myself wrong. Extremely wrong.

I did find a lake though. And was much convinced that it was The Lake until I got home and checked the map.

Anyway, it was really pretty also. And normally I love a blue sky but the dark and gloominess actually looked really amazing in the background because it made the place more mystical and entrancing (in a haunted but magical way). The big fail however came when I began following signs to the Cloud Viewing Pavilion and got stumped at this:

So I never found the Cloud Viewing Pavilion, but I am determined to go back and dig a hole to continue my search. Anyway, the place was massive and it took me a million years to find my way out and get back on to a main road. SB, you will be pleased that I again went with my take-whatever-path-and-see-what-happens attitude as opposed to asking for directions.

On another note, SL – I had the most awesome preserved egg and pork congee yesterday for 8RMB. I cannot wait till you get here!

Oh and I’m still keeping up our cop-photo tradition.
